With spectacular coastal views, this modern residential home is located in the picturesque suburb of Dover Heights in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Padstow-based: Trio Designs were selected as the window and door fabricator for this home renovation project. The brief from the homeowner was simple- renovate this coastal home so that it is energy efficient, high performing, reliable, and built to last. Trio had no hesitation in recommending the ClimateGuard range of thermally-broken window, door, and framing systems.
Having fabricated and installed the ClimateGuard systems for a number of other high-end residential projects, Trio was happy to install this system because of its energy efficiency and ease of fabrication.
Unlike other thermally-broken brands that use complex overseas systems that are difficult to fabricate and have long lead times.
The ClimateGuard thermally-broken systems are energy efficient and offer insulation and comfort in commercial and residential buildings. The technology behind ClimateGuard consists of a polyamide strip that sits between the interior/exterior of the window/door and the aluminium frame and reduces the transfer of thermal energy. Ultimately making it cooler in summer and warmer in winter and providing benefits to the homeowner including reduced reliance on air conditioning and lower energy bills.
Energy efficiency is of growing concern with architects and builders under increased pressure to adhere to updated NCC (National Construction Code) standards and Basix requirements.
The ClimateGuard systems are able to satisfy these requirements with its range of window and door systems achieving u-values as low as Uw1.9
Another important factor the builder had to take into consideration was the home’s ability to withstand harsh weather conditions. As a coastal property, the fabricator had to install window and door systems that could handle high water and wind loads, the ClimateGuard systems have high strength and ultimate ratings making them ideal for harsh weather conditions.
In the end, the homeowner was pleased with the result and looks forward to entertaining outdoors and minimal energy costs.
